Park Babelsberg 9, Potsdam
Greatly restored and beautifully located in a super designed park.
Delicious food, open despite Corona. Very friendly staff. Very good bratwurst, to be recommended.
In the summer, the staff was still quite nice but now experienced in Lockdown 2: very unfriendly at the bistro stand. In addition: overpriced prices. Example: a not too generous portion of kale with “crackers” for just under € 9 ... is probably due to the “monopoly” in the park. For the location itself and the view alone, there are 2 stars.
The small castle, a formerly simple garden house near the banks of the Havel, was first rebuilt in 1833/1834 based on designs by Ludwig Persius. A second redesign also took place under the direction of the architect Persius in 1841/1842 according to detailed information from Princess Augusta in the style of the English Tudor Gothic. The white building served as the residence of the eldest son of the prince couple, Friedrich Wilhelm, who later became Emperor Friedrich III, until after his marriage to Victoria. It then housed court ladies and guests. After the death of Friedrich Wilhelm in 1888, the house was forgotten for decades until the composer and conductor Hans Chemin-Petit, who was born in Potsdam, lived in it as a tenant between 1934 and 1945. After the Second World War it was used as a recreation home for DEFA and the Small Castle has been used for gastronomy since 1950 - with a brief interruption after the construction of the border fortifications in 1961 - to this day.
Overpriced and no quality Zucchini pancakes with lettuce were on the menu. Almost 10 euros is a lot for that, but that's good. The view is nice. Because I was hungry, I added the pikeperch. (plus 6 euros) The result is a small plate with salad and exactly one (1) buffer. The fish was frozen, fatty and unsalted. When I asked, I was told that there is less zucchini fritters when you add the fish. So be the calculation. I think it's a rip-off to pay something that you don't get.
Friendly service, very tasty food, reasonable prices, beautiful view & great atmosphere :) gladly again
Super location with a very nice view! The Sachertorte was incredibly good.
Very beautiful, spacious gardens with a castle and other beautiful buildings. Highly recommended!
Yeah good. The food was very cold.
Small Chateau with a Café with extraordinary cakes ?❤?
A wonderful place to stop off. Delicious desserts and cakes as well as coffee variations or other drinks. The view is wonderful. The prices are not cheap, but not unaffordable either. Such locations have their price, no matter where in the world. I will definitely come back here.
Maultaschensuppe is quite good, but completely overpriced. Of course you also pay for the location, but even as a Munich resident that's too expensive or the soup is way too small. I was really annoyed about our bill ..
Attractive location by the lake. Cake good, coffee okay too. They can also pay for the space very well ...
This is a magnificent "small castle" in Babelsberg, in the park. The restaurant is not far from the Havel. So every guest can go swimming before or after visiting the restaurant. At the same time, the beautiful surroundings also allow hiking in a wonderful landscape. After a few minutes you have already reached the prehistoric Glienicke Bridge. With a glance at freedom. Now back to the restaurant. Fine drinks and good food are offered here. By the way, coffee and cake are also served on request. In addition, there is the fact that one has the Havel in view during the entire stay. The personnel is very friendly and courteous. So I can recommend this relaxing place to others, with the request that you visit us as soon as possible!
The staff was totally overwhelmed, although the cake and coffee were delicious and the special atmosphere invites you to linger.
Very nicely located. Here you can relax with a drink :)
Very nicely located little café where you should take a break to try the delicious ice cream.
I cannot understand Christine Paasch's criticism at all. I found out exactly the opposite. We are often guests in Babelsberg and have really been there many times. The ambience is the first to deserve 5 stars, the hygiene measures are always exemplary, the service is extremely service-oriented, friendly and attentive, and best of all is the great selection of cakes, each variety homemade and simply delicious. We always like to come back.
So so
Nice outdoor spaces with delicious coffee and homemade cakes. The service was also very friendly and nice. We enjoyed the break.
Babelsberg Palace and its gardens are beautifully situated, and the proximity to the Havel, with a bathing beach, is particularly beautiful. Here you can very well spend an eventful day with children. Overall, a well-kept area.
I waited around 40 minutes to get my bill. And I didn't get it! I had to leave the money on the table with a big tip (didn't have any change). What a pitty. Never more!
Nice and tiny View over the Havel
Great view from the deep lake! The small palace called Hofdamenhaus in white was designed by Persius in 1832 and is now a café.
Surprisingly delicious cakes in the middle of the park (: Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Make sure you have plenty of time. Table service only, 20 minutes wait for order to be taken. 15 minutes later still waiting for cake and coffee. Can't review the cake or coffee as still waiting for it to arrive.
Liked the cake a lot
Good pie and good coffee in a beautiful castle. It's not getting any better.
A "small castle" in Babelsberg Park in Potsdam which is now a restaurant. Unfortunately it wasn't opened whilst I was visiting here in November as it was closed! This little castle has a beautiful history going back to the mid 1800s. Apparently it fell into disrepair until local composer, Hans Chermin-Petit took up residence in the mid 1930s. It's an absolute must visit even just to see the building or best of all to enjoy a glass of wine with delicious food and cocktails. This has a gorgeous view of the Harvel. A beautiful spot to visit and take memorable photos.
Amazing view, great service and very tasty food. Try apricot cheesecake.
Right next to the Kleines Schloss Babelsberg they have a little Imbiss were you can buy sausage from the grill and cold beverages. You can enjoy you snacks while sitting under wine tendril. Super cool!
Lovely venue. Good food, great service and in a beautiful location overall.
Overpriced and extremely unpleasant staff
Very good place for caffe mit cake (eg. cheese cake with mandarine or strawberry cake). Fantastic lake view is nice appendix to the restaurant menu ?
I came here with my bike on a sunny crisp spring day, and the location cannot be any more ideal! It really provides a nice place to sit down for a bit, eat something if you were hungry, drink something if you were thirsty, or even simply soak up more of the lake view. A bit overpriced, but I guess you pay more for being there than what you actually order. It's nice a convenient when you happen to be there and it's not too busy for you, otherwise not something you have to go out of your way to get to.
Wonderful place to relax in a sunny day! The position is amazing, inside the Babelsberg park and direct on the water front. Try one of the homemade cakes!
Great quiches and cakes. Great view. Beautiful setting. Cash only. No cards accepted, not even EC card. Beer tap broken:-(
toll
Enjoyed a cappuccino and the spinach quiche here. About 100 drink options and just a few food items. The cakes looked tasty.
Didn't get to eat here but the building is great. It is sey into the hillside and looks amazing from across the river.
Great views and tasty ice coffee
